Perched above the Pula plain, nestled within the sprawling grounds of the Is Molas Resort, lies Studio Dolce Vita – a cosy retreat for couples or parents with one or two children who appreciate fine craftsmanship and style. From the lounge in front of the house, the view stretches across the evergreen hills of the south to the coast, where the striking Saracen tower of Nora stands as a silhouette against the sea. The recently and extensively renovated apartment combines Sardinian materials with the charm of a small designer home – a place where even the first breakfast al fresco sets the tone for the whole day’s holiday.
The studio welcomes guests with light-coloured walls, warm wood tones and carefully curated details. The bedroom features a double bed with a fan-shaped headboard made of natural rattan, and a floor-to-ceiling door opens directly onto the terrace. In the adjoining small living area, there is a comfortable sofa that can be converted into an extra bed for one or two children if required. The studio is therefore designed to accommodate a maximum of two adults with children.
The kitchen is integrated into a handcrafted wooden cupboard and deliberately kept minimalist: behind the curved folding doors lie a small sink, a microwave and a portable two-ring hob for two small pots – enough for a relaxed summer breakfast, an aperitif or a light dinner. A large freestanding fridge with a freezer compartment completes the fittings. On the adjoining covered outdoor terrace, there is also a washing machine and an additional outdoor sink – handy after a long day at the beach. The bathroom is a real eye-catcher: handmade ceramic tiles in turquoise, terracotta and ochre create geometric patterns on the walls, complemented by a spacious glass shower and a washbasin made of warm travertine. Air conditioning, Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV are standard features.
Directly off the bedroom is a covered veranda with a dining table for four, lit by a woven pendant lamp – ideal for long dinners as the sun sinks behind the hills. A few steps further on is a paved outdoor area with artificial grass and a lounge seating area, from which the panorama unfolds all the way down to the sea. Parking is available right next to the house.
The nearest sandy beach – the fine-sand bay of Nora with its turquoise waters and ancient watchtower in the background – is about a 10-minute drive away (6.3 km). Right next to it lies one of Sardinia’s most significant archaeological sites: the Phoenician-Roman port city of Nora, whose mosaics, thermal baths and theatre will keep you occupied for a whole morning. Those who prefer wild and wide-open spaces should drive 20 minutes further south to Chia, where miles of beaches are lined with tall juniper dunes.
Pula itself, about 5 km from the house, is a lively little town with a pretty piazza, small boutiques, ice cream parlours and a wide variety of restaurants – from traditional agriturismo to modern trattorias. The weekly market offers regional produce, and in summer concerts and festivals liven up the evenings in the piazza and the neighbouring harbour. Those staying longer should plan a trip to Cagliari – the bustling port city with its old town and viewing terraces is about a 30-minute drive away. Finally, golfers will find their paradise right on the doorstep: the renowned 27-hole course at Is Molas is one of the most challenging on the island.
